OTOAI writes to Embassies for issuing Gratis Visas for all unused Visas

The prevailing times are exceptionally tough and challenging for all of us and more so for the tourism industry across the globe, which was the first to be hit and will take a long time to recover. From loss of job to loss of business, travel fraternity is desperately grappling with the situation, constantly finding ways and means to keep themselves afloat. Because of the global impact of the Pandemic, people are scared to travel and many travellers have lost money over holiday bookings that they could not undertake.

OTOAI, standing tall to its commitment of always being there for its members and doing every possible effort to boost Outbound Tourism sector in India, recently wrote a letter to mainly all European Embassies in India, requesting them to issue Gratis Visas to all those travellers who despite having a valid travel visa could not undertake the planned holiday.

RiazMunshi, President, OTOAI, says, “There are many travellers who had their travel plans scheduled for the period between March – July, 2020. These travellers had already applied and received their Visas for the Travel but as we know, were unable to carry on with their travel plans.OTOAI has written to most of the European Embassy requesting them to issue a Gratis Visa to the visitors who despite having paid and processed the Visa fee and due procedure, could not undertake the journey for reasons known to all of us.”

He strongly feels that issuing a Gratis Visa would not only reinstate people’s confidence in international travel one again but will also propel them to undertake travel to the country extending the gesture. The knowledge that a traveller will not have to pay the Visa Fee again will most definitely make him plan his holiday / trip to the country offering this advantage. It will ease his cost of travel and act as a major booster in his travel plans to your country, which he might have postponed or cancelled earlier.

OTOAI is looking forward to a positive response from the Embassies on the request made.
