Cuban National Day

Cuban National Day is celebrated in India.

The 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations with India were celebrated in the capital city of New Delhi with a cocktail party attended by around 180 guests, including officials of government institutions, diplomats, deputies, businessmen and friends in general.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi, who recently returned from an official visit to Havana and recalled the meetings held especially with President Miguel Diaz-Canel. She further stressed that Cuba and India have always been united in history and in the common values that we defend at the international level. She congratulated Cuba on its full independence day and reaffirmed the willingness to continue developing bilateral ties.
The Cuban Ambassador, Alejandro Simancas, highlighted the historic ties of friendship, collaboration, respect and dialogue that have characterized the relations and in the development of which the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara played a fundamental role.
The daughter of the Heroic Guerrilla, Aleida Guevara, was also invited to the meeting and expressed her gratitude for the expressions of sympathy and solidarity she received from all over India.
Asif Iqbal, President of the Indian Economic and Trade Organization (IETO), also spoke, calling for the continued development of economic and trade ties and announced the organization of an upcoming business delegation to Havana.
During the meeting, a thematic magazine dedicated to Cuba was presented on the occasion of these historic dates. Likewise, the Cuban Ambassador, in collaboration with IETO, presented the Minister of State Meenakshi Lekhi with a symbolic painting with her image and the Cuban flag.
Finally, the guests were able to enjoy a representation of our culture with a dance performance by the group “Mundo Latino” and the presentation of the Cuban musical group “Seismix” that together with our Habanos and mojitos created the atmosphere of pride and celebration.
